Dover Dentist Determined to Do More
An Introduction to Dr. Kevin Huff
When Dr. Kevin Huff acquired the dental office of Dr. Henry R. Deetz in 1996, located on West 4th Street in Dover it became a legacy practice. The practice has been serving patients from Tuscarawas, Harrison, Coshocton, Stark, Wayne, and Holmes counties for more than half a century. Dr. Huff is the new Dover dentist and has continued to progressively offer modern dental technology and quality care to his patients ever since.
Technology that patients may enjoy includes laser surgery for extractions and minor gum surgeries, single-visit toothcolored porcelain crowns and fillings, complimentary oral cancer screening using the VELscope VX, digital x-rays, quality high-definition photographs for diagnosis and patient education, and many others. Just this month, Dr. Huff is renovating his office to better serve his patients. The renovation includes largescreen computer monitors so patients can tour their own mouths virtually, a new heated massage dental chair making recall visits more comfortable, and plush, comfortable reception furniture where friends and family may watch TV on a large screen while their loved ones are being treated.
According to Huff, “Dentists are really physicians of the head and neck. A healthy mouth says a lot about the health of the body. For example, recent research has linked gum disease to diabetes, depression, elevated stroke risk, cardiovascular disease and even premature birth and low birth weight.”
Dr. Huff also recalled several cases where “simple” dental abscesses were life-threatening. Dr. Huff welcomes new patients with a complimentary interview to discuss their fears, frustrations, goals, and desires for their dental health. If they choose, a thorough dental exam including evaluation of the gums, examination of the teeth for decay or cracks, screening of the jaw joints, evaluation of the muscles of the jaw and neck, oral cancer and soft tissue screening, and identification of other risk factors.
